The Center for Architecture and Design is hosting an Opening Reception on Friday to celebrate their move from 390 East Broad to 50 West Town Street in the Lazarus Building. The event, set to run from 7pm to 9pm, will feature light hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar as well as a chance to see the CBUS Ideabook project on display.
The new 2,400-square-foot space will be shared with AIA Columbus, which helped to launch the Center in 2009 and will collaborate with them on events. The layout is flexible and will be able to accommodate lectures, receptions, continuing education seminars and, perhaps most importantly, exhibits.
“The historic Lazarus Building offered us not only a prime downtown location between the Columbus Commons and the Scioto Mile, but also great storefront visibility which we intend to populate with rotating exhibits,” said Executive Director Gwen Berlekamp.
Berlekamp looks for the Center’s programming to evolve and expand over the course of the next year, but to include such favorites as Camp Architecture, Design Weeks and Design:ROLLS, a series of architectural bike tours.
