SŌW Plated Expanding with Fast-Casual Concept

Upper Arlington’s SŌW Plated is getting into the fast-casual game. The restaurant will expand with two new locations focused on carryout and delivery.

SŌW To Go will open its first location this spring at 435 W. Broad St. as part of the Gravity development in Franklinton. A second location at Green|House Short North, 30 Price Ave., Ste. 100, will open later this year. Both are projects from Kaufman Development.

Owners Sunny and John Fahlgren opened SŌW Plated in 2019, serving up a healthy dose of philosophy along with its health-focused fare.

“We’re so passionate about wellness and mental health and how food connects to both,” says Sunny. “All of us are on some sort of health journey. Certain things are within our control, and some things are not. But we do have an opportunity to make a decision about our health three times a day when we eat. The way people have responded to SŌW Plated is incredible. We know demand is there for well-sourced, healthy food that tastes good. And we know people want it in a way that fits their lifestyle. We’re excited to deliver both to even more people with SŌW To Go.”

SŌW To Go’s menu will largely mirror the breakfast and lunch menus at SŌW Plated. For breakfast that includes sweet and savory options – an acai bowl, banana chia seed pudding, a scramble, egg sandwich and more. The lunch menu has veggie-forward starters, breads & spreads and tacos, plus entree salads, bowls and sandwiches. The new locations will also feature fresh-pressed juices, smoothies and an expanded coffee menu.

“There is an undeniable, science-backed connection between food and mood. We embrace the integrative approach to medicine and are driven by the expression ‘Good Food, Good Mood,” John says. “Being rooted in science is important to the brand, but the story only sells if the food surpasses everyone’s expectations. Good isn’t enough. You’ve got to be consistently great, which is what our incredible team aspires to be every day.”

SŌW To Go will be a part of Gravity 2.0, the second phase of the development rising on the south side of West Broad Street. The second phase of the development includes a 12-story apartment tower, a six-story office building, two more five-story apartment buildings, an 889-space parking garage and multiple retail spaces. The restaurant will occupy 1,200 square feet, giving it room for limited seating, and open onto a public courtyard. Hours are slated to be 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily.

The Green|House Short North location will be smaller at 700 square feet. It will be part of a development that includes a seven-story building with 158 apartments, four penthouse units and eight townhomes, plus a parking garage.

The Fahlgren’s call Kaufman Development “the perfect partner,” saying they share an unwavering commitment to wellness and an ethos.

“Sunny and John are on a mission to help people live their healthiest, happiest lives, both physically and mentally, which is so inspiring,” says Kaufman Development Founder & CEO Brett Kaufman. “I personally love their food, love their passion, and love this new concept, and I’m thrilled they’ve chosen to grow their sought-after brand in not just one but two of our communities. I’m excited for how this will start—and how it will grow.”
