When most people think of the Short North, they envision High Street. That’s certainly where the majority of the action is, but it doesn’t mean that you won’t find some great hidden gems tucked deeper into the Italian Village and Victorian Village neighborhoods on either side of the street.
Danceville, U.S.A. is one of those gems, located at 47 East Lincoln, just a block down the street from Jeni’s. The new dance studio first opened its doors back in March, but waited until October to host its official grand opening party.
“Reception for the studio has been wonderful,” says Kylie Kochert, PR/Regional Marketing Director for Danceville, U.S.A. “We have been hearing positive responses everywhere — from our students to people on the street to prominent figures in the ballroom dancing world.”
Owner Keith Michael is one of those local prominent figures, having started his career in Dayton as a dance studio manager with a decade of dancing experience under his belt. The studio is also home to Dance Director Tony Meredith, who has a long list of accreditations that range from film to TV to Broadway, in addition to serving as co-host of the first two seasons of the PBS series “America’s Ballroom Challenge” and appearing as a guest choreographer on “So You Think You Can Dance” on FOX.
The studio boasts a total of seven certified dance instructors that specialize in range of styles from swing to salsa, and formats that include private lessons, group lessons and practice parties. Special events are also hosted from time to time that feature specialized styles like country line dancing and pop culture choreography.
