While many people want to see a real light-rail or streetcar or subway line in Columbus, the opportunity to see a make-believe version has presented itself this weekend at the Independents’ Day festival in Franklinton. Local advertising company and event sponsor Orange Barrel Media installed a life-size subway train on Lucas Street next to Land Grant Brewing and the Columbus Idea Foundry.

Ten local graffiti artists and muralists were invited to paint the train cars this weekend, and attendees to the event can watch the progress and evolution during the final day of the festival today from noon to 8pm.
“This is an important event for us — we love the large-scale creative spectacle of it all,” says Andrew Adams, Creative and Marketing Director at Orange Barrel. “Not only is it held right out our backdoor, but the heart of the festival resonates with what we do at OBM — bringing oversized ideas to reality.”
