Objects for the Home Closing Grandview Avenue Store

Local home furnishing store Objects for the Home announced yesterday that it will be closing its 1310 Grandview Avenue location later this month with a new location (yet to be announced) slated to open later this year. Their space won’t sit empty for long though, because Cottage Street will be relocating from Clintonville to take their place.

If this story is giving you a sense of deja vu, there’s a reason for that. Objects for the Home originally launched at 3284 North High Street in Clintonville 2010, and relocated to Grandview Avenue in 2011. What took their place was Cottage Street, which opened a few months later in 2011 and expanded in 2013. This game of retail leapfrog also has a familial connection — Objects for the Home is owned by Chelsea Cabot and Kris Koniezcko, while Cottage Street is owned by John and Sue Konieczko — Kris’ parents.

“Throughout our six years since opening Objects we’ve gone through many adjustments,” said Cabot. “We’re certainly not afraid of change, in fact, we love it. We feel it’s crucial for our businesses to change as we do; our style and interests have shifted over the past six years and the authenticity in our business is that we always stay true to ourselves.”

When Objects reopens, Cabot says that it will be in a smaller space with a focus on decor and accents and no longer carry larger furniture.

Cabot and Koniezcko also operate clothing store Vernacular, which now has three locations. The newest store opened in Worthington in April, and a fourth store is planned for Cleveland in 2017.
