North Market Welcomes New Vendor Katzinger’s Deli

It’s been quite a year for Katzinger’s Deli, the nearly 30 year old, Columbus-based deli that’s been serving up some of the best meats and cheeses in the city since its opening. They recently launched Katzingersgrocery.com, a one-stop site where visitors can purchase much of the same groceries they can at the store, and now, they open their second location in the historic North Market.

It’s a logical pairing really, both outfits being locally-grown, steeped in tradition, and recognized as important cultural icons in Ohio. Katzinger’s Little Deli will be located in the southwest end of the market, across from Omega Artisan Baking.

The menu at this smaller Katzinger’s will be streamlined from its original. Ten signature items will be carried from which customers will be able to create over 30 different sandwich combinations. They will also feature an “Only at the Market” sandwich: grilled farm bread filled with Rachel’s pimento spread, roasted turkey, applewood smoked bacon, and tomatoes. And yes, Katzinger’s famous pickle barrels will also be on hand.

Katzinger’s Little Deli aims to open this April, in time for Spring at the North Market. This is the second business from German Village that Executive Director Rick Harrison Wolfe has moved to the North Market since the announcement of its restructuring. Pistacia Vera opened in December.

“With over one million visitors per year from around Central Ohio and the world, the Market and its merchants are ambassadors for Columbus,” shares Wolfe on the choice to add Katzinger’s to the NoMa family. “Part of our mission is to be the best in class in everything we do. We always need to be conscious of the needs and desires of our diverse constituency.”

The original Katzinger’s Deli is located at 475 South Third Street. For more on their upcoming move, visit www.katzingers.com.
