Black Radish Creamery Coming Soon to The North Market
The North Market is getting a new cheese vendor. Black Radish Creamery, currently located in Alexandria, Ohio, will soon occupy the space previously filled by Curds and Whey.
“We are thrilled for this unique opportunity at North Market and look forward to carrying on the legacy of cheese this space has at the market,” said Anne Reese, who co-owns Black Radish Creamery with her husband, John Reese.
The Reeses established the Creamery in 2011. They tout their cheese and award-winning fruit preserves, both of which they’ll be bringing to the North Market in January. In the meantime, the Reeses will operate North Market Cheese on behalf of the Market. After the new year starts, so will a full remodel to transform Curds and Whey into Black Radish Creamery.
“The addition of Black Radish Creamery will further enhance the North Market’s reputation of providing a launching pad for small businesses,” said Rick Harrison Wolfe, Executive Director of the North Market Development Authority, in a press release. “The North Market is excited about the opportunity to showcase what Black Radish Creamery has to offer and I believe our customers will enjoy this ‘best in class’ latest addition to their favorite shopping destination.”
BRC will offer specialty groceries along with some dining choices, like cheese and charcuterie plates and gourmet sandwiches. With them the Reeses bring Brian Schlatter, a Defiance, Ohio native and member of a sixth generation dairy family, who will be Head Cheesemonger and Manager at the North Market location.
“I have so many amazing memories and experiences that are anchored by good food and around good people,” John Reese said. “All I want to do is help others create such memories and if Black Radish Creamery is the actor, I can’t think of a better stage in Columbus perform on and personally reach so many people.”
