Noodlecat May or May Not be Coming to Columbus

Cleveland Chef Jonathon Sawyer has been tipping his toes into the Columbus market in a few different ways over the past year. Last winter he took part in a pop-up within a pop-up special event at Freshstreet Yakitori, and more recently launched the Tavern Vinegar Company in collaboration with Middle West Spirits.

And now, his popular Japanese-American noodle dish concept Noodlecat may or may not be expanding from the two locations in Cleveland into Central Ohio… it depends on who you ask. This Week News writer Gary Seman Jr. published a story today that quotes Chef Sawyer as saying both “Columbus is definitely in our future plans and we hope to be down by late 2014” and “we do not have plans at this moment to open”. So which is it?

We went straight to the horse’s mouth and got the direct word from Chef Sawyer:

“We would love to open but have no Noodlecat plans yet.”

So while there’s nothing quite yet to really report, it does sound like the exploration of expansion is being considered.

Where would you like to see a Noodlecat restaurant land in Columbus?
