The 130-year old church sits at the northeast corner of Neil Avenue and Goodale Street, a prominent presence at the gateway to Victorian Village. A multimillion-dollar renovation will give the 18,000 square foot building new life as both an event venue and as office space for small businesses.

“We are over-the-moon about beginning this journey in this incredible space,” says a representative of the Sanctuary on Neil, LLC. “We are looking forward to restoring this 19th century church to its former glory. We were thrilled to hear the Victorian Village commissioners’ feedback and excitement about welcoming our new business to the neighborhood. We know The Sanctuary on Neil will add even more ambiance and vibrancy into this historic district of Columbus.”

The Sanctuary plans to host weddings, birthdays, fundraisers and more.

In addition to event space, part of the former church will be dedicated to office space for small businesses. The Sanctuary says all businesses are welcome and office spaces will range from $750/month to $2,000/month.

One tenant that will be joining The Sanctuary’s office space is Danceville U.S.A. The ballroom dance studio will move from its current home at 47 E. Lincoln St. in Short North to Victorian Village.

“Dance lessons are set to begin at the new location, The Sanctuary on Neil, on February 1st, 2021,” an announcement about the move read. “Just wait until you see the size of the ballroom—-the gorgeous hardwood floors, a 30 ft. vaulted ceiling, chandeliers galore! And that’s only the beginning!”

OHM Advisors and Shaffer Construction will oversee the project.
