New “Share the Road” Initiative Unveiled

Bike to Work Week was officially launched on Monday, but did you know that it wasn’t the only new biking initiative announced this week? The new Share the Road campaign was also unveiled, which is meant to serve as an educational component of the City’s Bicentennial Bikeways Plan, as well as a safety component to make streets friendlier for cyclists, pedestrians, and all motorists alike.

The initial focus area is a 6.5 mile stretch of High Street running from Nationwide Boulevard Downtown up to Morse Road north of Clintonville. Over the next few months, special signage and “sharrows” will be implemented throughout this area to increase cycling awareness and safety.
