Autumn officially began back in September, but with an Indian Summer in full effect, we’re still seeing some amazing warm weather well into November. That’s great news for patio fans who want to spend a little extra time drinking and dining outdoors before the snow eventually arrives.
While everyone has their go-to classic favorite patios in the city, there’s also quite a few new patios in Columbus this year that you still have time to try out if you have yet to visit them. Below is a list of seven of those newer patios (in no particular order) that are worth your time while the weather is still warm:
1. Standard Hall
New Short North beer hall Standard opened its doors at the start of July, giving it a couple of warm summer months to break in their new outdoor spaces. This open-format renovated building features a couple of popular roll-up garage doors by the back bar that open to a secluded outdoor seating area. Toward the front, there’s a second patio space with high-top seating that looks out to the food truck parking lot.

2. Condado (Downtown)
The original Condado in the Short North added a hidden patio out back last year, but the new Downtown location opened in June with a more prominent High Street patio that has proven popular as a place to see and be seen while enjoying customized tacos and margaritas.

3. Balboa
New bar and restaurant Balboa brought some rejuvinated patio dining to Grandview Heights in the former Shoku spot back in May, and has been a popular destination all summer long. The menu is So-Cal / Tex-Mex, so you can expect more tacos, appetizers, margaritas and import beers.

4. The Eagle
Cincinnati’s The Eagle made its way to Columbus this summer with an opening in mid-July in the Short North. The old La Fogata patio saw a renovation to accomodate more of a social group-seating atmosphere. Wood benches and high-top tables lends itself well to the new menu of fried chicken and cold beer.

5. PINS Mechanical Company
One of the largest new additions to the Downtown nightlife and entertainment scene is Pins Mechanical Company, which opened at Fourth and Long in early September. Inside, Pins offers pinball, duckpin bowling and other games, and two outdoor patios offer skyline views, food truck dining, and alfresco nightlife under the newly landscape trees.

6. Black Brick Bar
2016 has been a good year for patios in the Short North. The newly rebuilt Donatos building features a patio that is shared between a modern version of the locally-based pizza chain and the microbar next door: The Black Brick Bar. The new patio opened in late-May and features a bustling view of the High Street streetscape for those visiting for pizza, local beer, speciality cocktails and live music.

7. Hoof Hearted Brew Pub
While the Hoof Hearted Brew Pub got a head start on the summer by opening the bar way back in February, their outdoor drinking and dining space didn’t come into full swing until the weather started warming up in May. Guests may not be able to enjoy the pool in November, but the outdoor ambiance remains entertaining for craft beer fans in the heart of Italian Village.
