New Dagwood Challenge Champion: Mark Lyle

Roughly a year ago, a group of Columbus Underground regulars set out to complete “The Dagwood Challenge” at The Ohio Deli on the south side of Columbus. Seven valiant men completed the task: to eat the massive Dagwood sandwich with a side of fries in under 30 minutes. Zach “Cyclist” Henkel finished first that day with a time of 11 minutes, but no one was able to break the record holder Josh Matko who finished the sandwich in 6 minutes.

Since then, an unnamed champion claimed the title with a 5 minute 30 second completion. And today, Mark “The Human Vacuum” Lyle was successful in smashing that record with an astounding 4 minute and 44 second run.

Sopressata has got the complete play-by-play on her blog, and she’s got the whole thing filmed as well. Be warned though… this video is not for the faint of heart.
