First Look: The New Columbus Museum of Art
After two years of construction, the massive expansion and renovation of the Columbus Museum of Art is nearly complete. The public grand opening celebration will take place next weekend on October 25th, but members of the media were treated to a sneak preview earlier this week for a first glimpse inside the new spaces.
The new wing adds 50,000 square feet of space on the east side of the museum, largely dedicated to collections of modern works. The north entrance has also been completely reimagined with a grand lobby entrance, a museum store that is twice the size of the original, and a new restaurant called Schokko Art Café, operated by Cameron Mitchell that has an outdoor plaza and upstairs event space built in.
Stay tuned for additional details on the grand opening next week.
