April Fools: New Amusement Park Announced in Northeast Ohio

Large international corporations are practically tripping over themselves to invest in the Utica Shale region of Ohio, including BP which leased 84,000 acres of land last week. Today, a new joint venture between multiple energy companies, financial investors and carnival ride manufacturers announced that they would be opening the new Fracktastic Adventures theme park on 200 acres of land located just south of Youngstown.

“With hundreds of thousands of new jobs flooding into the area over the next decade, we want to be able to provide some much needed entertainment for the industry workforce,” said Fracktastic Adventures Spokesman Bob Karf.

Fracktastic Adventures will feature will feature six state-of-the art vertical roller coasters and “power drop” rides similar in style to Top Thrill Dragster and the Power Tower at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio. An additional 300 rides are planned to be added in the coming years after opening.

In addition to roller coasters, ferris wheels and other traditional “dry” rides, Fracktastic Adventures will include a full size waterpark complete with water slides, kiddie areas and the signature 100,000-gallon Wastewater Wave Pool.

“We can already hear the sounds of screaming children who will cool off in the wave pool all summer long,” said Karf. “Meanwhile, parents will love being able to belly up to the poolside bar at Captain Quake’s Fish Grille & Brewpub.”

Captain Quake’s full service menu includes fresh daily fish specials caught from nearby streams and rivers along with local craft brews made from the finest area springwaters.

Founders of the new amusement park are pushing for a very agressive timeline, having laid much of the groundwork decades ago.

“We want this thing to be open like yesterday,” said Karf. “It’s coming along faster than the general public realizes, and there’s really nothing you can do to stop us [evil laughter].”
