New 313-Space Parking Garage Opens in The Short North
The Short North lost two prominent surface parking lots last fall with the start of construction at The Joseph development. Tomorrow some of the parking returns to the neighborhood with the opening of the 313-space parking garage on Russell Street. The new garage will be available for public use starting at 5pm, and will operate 24/7 with automated pay stations.
“The opening of the new Joseph parking garage is an important step in the overall Joseph development and will provide ample parking for patrons visiting Short North retailers,” said Joel S. Pizzuti, President of The Pizzuti Companies (developer of The Joseph). “The new garage is convenient for Short North visitors as well as the soon-to-be completed hotel and office components of the Joseph development.”
The opening of the garage also comes with a traffic change, as Russell Street has been reconfigured as an westbound one-way street. Cars entering the garage will come from High Street and will exit to Park Street.
Once complete, The Joseph development will include a six-story office and retail building on the west side of High Street, which includes the new Anthropologie store as well as other retailers yet to be announced. The other half of the development includes an 11-story Le Méridien hotel building on the east side of High Street, which is scheduled to open in January, and will feature a new Cameron Mitchell Restaurant. The development is also connected to the 18,000 square foot Pizzuti Collection art museum and gallery, which opened last year.
