New 10-Acre Car Rental Facility Coming to John Glenn Airport in 2020

Representatives from the John Glenn Columbus International Airport (CMH) announced today that they have selected TranSystems Corporation of Ohio to design a new rental car facility at the airport. The new facility is slated for construction on 10 acres of land in the center of the airport’s property, and will replace the current car rental facility located in the lower levels of the main airport parking garage.

“The new rental car facility will address capacity issues in the garage while also serving as the first key component to positioning John Glenn International for the development of a new terminal,” said Elaine Roberts, President & CEO of the Columbus Regional Airport Authority.

The facility will begin construction in 2018, with an opening slated for 2020. The proposed $1.3 billion new airport terminal doesn’t have a definitive timeline for development yet, as it is still going through preliminary study phases. A timeline is expected to be announced in late 2017.

“A new rental car facility and terminal have long been part of the airport master plan,” added Roberts. “This phased approach to development allows us to serve growing parking and rental car demands while still maximizing the life of our current terminal.”
