Nelsonville Music Festival Announces First Headliner for 2019
Nelsonville Music Festival (NMF) is coming back for its 15th year, and Death Cab for Cutie is the first headliner to be announced. The festival, hosted by the historic non-profit theater Stuart’s Opera House, will take place at Robbins Crossing on the campus of Hocking College in Nelsonville. It spans four days, June 6-9, 2019.
More than 60 local, regional and national acts are expected to perform on multiple stages all weekend long, though they have yet to be announced. NMF hosts several stages, including a main stage, the “picturesque” Porch Stage, a No-FI Cabin featuring unplugged performers, and a Boxcar Stage with music performed in an old train car. Other attractions include activities for kids, artisan vendors, food and a beer garden.
Weekend passes for all four days are currently on sale for $140 for out-of-owners and $70 for Nelsonville residents and teens, but the price will increase as the event gets closer. Kids under 12 years old get in free. Camping and VIP weekend passes are also on sale now. All proceeds raised at NMF benefit Stuart’s and its arts education programs.
More bands will be announced in the following weeks and months. Past performers include Wilco, The Flaming Lips, Willie Nelson, Ween, George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic, Gillian Welch, Iron & Wine, Yo La Tengo, Emmylou Harris, Courtney Barnett and a bunch of others.
