It was a short-lived run for Nancy’s Home Cooking Downtown. After two months, the restaurant at 52 E. Lynn St. is closed effective immediately.

The restaurant closed its Clintonville location in March 2020 and reopened Downtown in mid-August.

A number of factors appeared to influence the decision according to a post announcing the closure. While optimistic about the move at first, the restaurant experienced setbacks due to a number of Downtown workers continuing to work at home, COVID-19, destruction from looting during mid-summer protests and other setbacks.

“Listening to downtown businesses and state representatives talk about an uncertain future for downtown life, this led to our decision,” the post read. “We made a decision since business is definitely not where it should be for us.”

However, it’s not the end of Nancy’s. The eatery has opened a delivery-only kitchen in the Short North. Diners can order through DoorDash and Uber Eats Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m . – 8 p.m. Another post on social media notes pick-up will be available at the kitchen starting at the end of November.
