Moe’s Southwest Grill Launches New Franchise on Lane Avenue

The campus and environs of the Ohio State University is a hotbed for fast food franchises. Whether traditionally fast and greasy or gourmet, restaurants that can produce quality food in a speedy manner at a low cost thrive in such an environment. At least this is what Moe’s Southwest Grill is banking on, as it recently opened its doors on Thursday, March 7th at 1305 West Lane Avenue.

Since the launch of the concept in 2000, customers have flocked to Moe’s for their fresh-to-order, southwestern cuisine that includes burritos, quesadillas, and salads. What’s changed since that launch is the switch in quality of ingredients: all the meats at Moe’s are grass-fed, steroid-free and hormone-free.

And, as has become the trend in gourmet fast food restaurants, Moe’s has no freezer or microwave, and gets deliveries of local ingredients for use in their operation five times a week. According to Jay Jafari, manager at the new eatery; “what we really wanted to do here at Moe’s was to put out a quality product, really give customers something that was good, healthy, and fresh.”

Signature items like the Homewrecker Burrito, a massive tortilla designed to cure whatever hangover ails you, and the Close Talker Salad, a Homewrecker-sized salad for the not-so-dainty eaters, will surely pique the interest of the younger college crowd.

Local Moe’s franchise owner Clif Bullard plans to open fourteen Moe’s restaurants around Central Ohio over the next eight years, including one on High Street on the Ohio State campus proper.

“Ohio is the place to be,” Jafari affirmed. “It’s a great melting pot and the test market capital of the world. We’re looking forward to bringing good things to Ohio because it’s a good place to be and grow.”

Moe’s next location will be in Dublin at Avery Square. Construction is set to begin this April. For now, their Lane Avenue location will be open daily at 11am, closing at 9pm Sunday-Thursday, and 10pm on the weekends.
