“I am so relieved,” said long-time yoga practitioner and mother of 2 young children, Betsy Gambone regarding the recent announcement by Modo Yoga Columbus. Beginning October 11, 2021 the studio will require proof of vaccination against Covid-19 for attendance in the studio located at 1042 Dublin Road.

“We did a lot of research and much, much polling of our studio members before coming to this decision. It was not something we decided lightly,” says Chad Underwood, owner of Modo Yoga. “The community at Modo Yoga is amazing and very health conscious. All the teachers and staff at Modo Yoga were already vaccinated to prevent the spread of Covid-19 as were many of our students. We are committed to being a safe place to practice yoga.”

Now, Modo Yoga will bring back 75-minute yoga classes and allow more students per class. Over the past 20 months of the COVID-19 pandemic, Modo Yoga provided online classes for members and built another room to accommodate demand for classes after Ohio’s Governor DeWine allowed the reopening of fitness centers in 2020. Demand for hot yoga classes has been increasing, and Modo Yoga recently added more classes to their schedule.

“I am really looking forward to expanding our charity work,” says Underwood. In 2018, the Columbus Modo Yoga studio won an international competition for most charity dollars raised. Karma yoga classes at discounted rates will increase after October 11, also.

Since it opened in 2015, Modo Yoga has been known for its calm vibes and very hot yoga classes. The classic Modo Yoga class is 105 degrees F and the vinyasa flow classes are over 85 degrees F consistently. Modo Yoga has multiple hot yoga classes daily at their 1042 Dublin Road location as well as special events such as sound baths. Modo also has classes and events regularly at Land-Grant Brewing, High Banks Distillery, and other locations.

“One thing that I am really looking forward to is resuming our charity work on an even bigger scale,” says Underwood. “We have been very blessed and want to give back.”

Modo Yoga was founded by 2 Toronto-area environmentalists and hot yoga practitioners to provide yoga studios that focused on a calm, nurturing yoga practice and environmental friendliness. The Columbus Modo Yoga has many recycled and up-cycled features. Relaxing into savasana on their warm, cork flooring is a special treat.

“This year taught me that nothing is a given,” noted Chad Underwood, owner of Modo Yoga Columbus. “Adapting. Leading. Working with this wonderful community and this practice have meant the world to me and our great community here at Modo Yoga Columbus.”
