Middle West Spirits announced today the newest addition to their whiskey lineup: a limited-edition double-cask Oloroso Wheat Whiskey. This new spirit was first aged several years in American oak barrels and transferred to Oloroso Sherry casks for another 12-18 months, creating a smooth 102-proof whiskey described to have notes of cherry, dark chocolate and raisins.
Oloroso is the first product launched under Middle West’s new “Double Cask Collection” that utilizes both American and Scottish production styles, and features a new bottle shape to pay homage to the product’s Scotch-inspired roots.
“As we extend our footprint beyond Ohio, projects like the Double Cask Collection will become increasingly vital in furthering our ability to attract attention to the strong capabilities we’ve cultivated over the last five years,” said Middle West co-founder Brady Konya. “Ohio has been a solid market for us to showcase our creativity as producers… with a loyal customer base that has strongly supported us at each major milestone.”
Oloroso pre-launches this Friday, December 5th at the Middle West distillery in the Short North with bottles expected to hit store shelves at state liquor agencies in Columbus, Cleveland and Cincinnati next week. The new whiskey retails at $79.95 per bottle.
