Mayor Unveils New Website To Attract Jobs

In the ongoing efforts to attract businesses to the City of Columbus, Mayor Michael B. Coleman today unveiled the city’s new economic development website that has been redesigned to attract the attention of companies searching for a city to locate, relocate or expand their business. The new site can be found at EconDev.Columbus.Gov.

“As part of our plan to maintain core city services and sustain the quality of life in Columbus, we must step up our fight for every job,” Mayor Coleman said. “We must use technology and be creative in our efforts to attract and retain business to the City of Columbus.”

The website was created to make searches easier for site selectors. The site highlights many of Columbus’ strengths:  Columbus is within one day’s truck drive and a one-hour flight of 41 percent of the U.S. population, 80 percent of U.S. corporate headquarters and 43 percent of U.S. manufacturing capacity. The website also highlights the city’s strong educational institutions, its major employers, its national rankings and other information that is important to businesses.

“Columbus is uniquely positioned geographically to meet the needs of businesses,” said Councilmember Andrew J. Ginther, chair of the Development Committee.  “And with some 20,000 students graduating annually from our 18 institutions of higher learning, we can provide a talented, eager workforce to help companies succeed.”
