Local leaders gathered today at the new John R. Maloney Health Center for a ribbon cutting ceremony on the city’s South Side.

“This new facility represents our commitment to providing primary health and wellness services to South Side families close to where they live,” said Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman. “I salute the collaborative efforts of South Side residents who worked tirelessly with us to bring this center back to the South Side. Together we are helping families build healthier, safer neighborhoods.”

The building was constructed utilizing $8.6 million from the 2008 voter-approved bond package. The center will house Columbus Public Health’s Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program, and offer family healthcare, prenatal care, nutrition services, OB/GYN, pediatric and other services.

“Columbus Neighborhood Health Center, better known as CNHC, is pleased to be expanding access to primary health care for residents of the Southside with the re-opening of the Center,” stated Tom Horan, CEO of CNHC. “As a result of the commitment of our city’s leadership to assuring access to care and improving the health of Columbus residents, we will provide primary care through our own board certified physicians and certified nurse practitioners as well as specialty care through our partners, the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center and North Community Counseling Centers.”
