    The List: 10 Concerts You Won’t Want to Miss in July

    The summer festival season is in full swing, and July promises to be a huge month for concert-goers in Central Ohio. The month is filled with some big individual shows that will pack large venues like Nationwide Arena, and thanks to the debut of PromoWest Fest this month, you’ll also be able to see a whole slew of talented bands, rappers and musicians all in one weekend mid-month.     Here’s 10 upcoming concerts that you won’t want to miss:

    July 6: AWOLNATION

    Electro-rockers AWOLNATION return to Columbus for a second year in a row (they headlined last year’s Fashion Meets Music Festival) when they land indoors at EXPRESS LIVE! on July 6th. Special guests Death From Above will open.

    July 6: “Weird Al” Yankovic

    The King of Parody, Weird Al Yankovic, has hit the road this summer on his second annual “Mandatory Fun Tour”. This year’s run includes a stop at the Palace Theatre, and you can read more of what to expect in our interview with Al, HERE.

    July 8: Dave Matthews Band

    Legendary jam-rock band DMB will be performing for a huge crowd at Nationwide Arena this month. Fans can expect their signature fusion of of alt-rock, funk, jazz and bluegrass on July 8th.

    July 9: Times New Viking

    Locally-based no-fi rockers Times New Viking will be reuniting for the first time in four years for a live performance at the annual 4th & 4th Festival, taking place at Ace of Cups. Ten other bands will also share the bill for this single-day noon-to-midnight rock fest.

    July 9: Nelly

    Hip hop fans and classical music fans will unite in Columbus Commons on July 9th to hear Nelly team up with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra for an exciting installment in the Picnic with the Pops series. Expect orchestral renditions of all of his greatest hits.

    July 15: The Flaming Lips

    Geek-rock icons The Flaming Lips will be headlining the first night of the first ever PromoWest Fest, which will invade Downtown Columbus for three full days. Other Friday acts include Ryan Adams, Noel Gallagher, Fitz and the Tantrums and more.

    July 16: Snoop Dogg

    Day two of the PromoWest Fest will feature Snoop Dogg as the headliner, which promises to be an epic show for those in attendance. Other Saturday performers include LL Cool J, Mac Miller, Milky Chance and more.

    July 17: Modest Mouse

    The third and final day of the PromoWest Fest has two big headliners: Modest Mouse and Brand New. The Sunday lineup also will feature Garbage, J. Roddy Walston and more.

    July 27: Bush

    Gavin Rossdale and crew will land in Columbus at EXPRESS LIVE late in the month to bring the era of nineties grunge rock and power ballads back to life along with some heavier rock from Chevelle.

    July 28: Coldplay

    Last but not least, Coldplay rounds out a big month of concerts in Columbus with a show at Nationwide Arena on July 28th. Tickets are still on sale, so grab them before this show sells out.
