The North Market announced their newest tenant today with the addition of Little Eater, a locally-based healthy food vendor that has been popping up inside local grocers for the past few years. Owner and Chef Cara Mangini is no stranger to the North Market, with her products having already been for sale through the Greener Grocer.
“I have dreamed of opening Little Eater at North Market for a long time,” explains Mangini. “It’s a great honor to have this opportunity to serve Columbus and its visitors, and to be in the mix with so many talented merchants and food artisans.”
The Little Eater concept will feature vegetable-based salads for sale by the scoop, in addition to a variety of sandwiches, soups, green salads, quiches, sweets and more. This addition to the merchant mix at The North Market is a significant one, as Little Eater will be the only prepared food merchant with a primary focus on vegetable-based dishes.
“Produce-inspired food can be deeply delicious and satisfying — it just so happens to be healthy,” says Mangini. “We are trying to expose the beauty in the food our farm partners produce and give our customers a reason to celebrate nature, community and life.”
Little Eater will be located in a 483 square foot space on the north end of the building between Firdous Express and North Market Cookware. Construction is already under way, and the store is expected to open in January. Little Eater prepared foods will still be found in other stores throughout Columbus, including The Hills Market Downtown, Stauf’s Grandview, Cup O’ Joe Clintonville, Clintonville Community Market and the Greener Grocer.
The addition of Little Eater will bring the North Market back to 100-percent occupancy following a year of construction and relocation of vendors throughout the building.
