A 36,000 Square Foot LEGO Playground is Coming to Columbus in 2018
In 2018, Columbus will become home to the first LEGOLAND Discovery Center in the state of Ohio. Representatives at Easton Town Center announced this morning that construction is expected to begin soon on the new space, which will replace the recently closed KDB entertainment venue within the newly remodeled Easton Station building.
“The LEGOLAND Discovery Centers have been a huge success across the globe, particularly as an opportunity for adults and children to spend fun, quality time together,” said John Jakobsen, Chief New Openings Officer of Merlin Entertainments, operator of LEGOLAND. “We are proud to be partnering with Easton Town Center in Columbus as it is the ideal location for the attraction, as the mall is already a favored destination for Ohio families and tourists from the region.”
The new facility represents a $10 million investment, totaling 36,000 square feet of space. The LEGOLAND Discovery Center concept was designed to entertain families with children between the ages of three and 10, and is described as a two-to-three-hour indoor interactive experience. A LEGO retail store opened at Easton in the summer of 2009.
“Landing the first LEGOLAND Discovery Center in the state of Ohio and only the eleventh location in the U.S. is significant,” said Jennifer Peterson, Chief Executive of Easton. “We here at Easton look forward to welcoming the legions of LEGO fans who want to experience the ultimate indoor playground.”
LEGOLAND is expected to open at Easton in the Fall of 2018.
