The Columbus Pride Festival is finally upon us; a long awaited annual tradition that Columbus has been celebrating for over 33 years. Each year various vendors throughout the Short North area do their part to make the weekend enjoyable for the residents and for visitors.
Le Chocoholique, a dessert, coffee, and cocktail establishment located on the corner of Poplar Street and High Street, has planned a special drink menu for Pride Festival. Le Chocoholique has been in the Short North for a little over four years, and has since opened up the Easton Town Center location just last year.
“Pride is one of our most celebrated events in Columbus,” said Wyatt Burk, bartender and barista at Le Chocoholique. “We like to show our support by welcoming everyone in to celebrate who they are, and dedicate some recipes of our own for the occasion.”
The drink menu has been handcrafted by each bartender, a small contribution to an event that the Le Chocoholique staff is passionate about. The menu includes shots, mixed drinks and martinis.
One of the shots being offered is a Bananas Foster Shot:
.5 oz Cake Vodka
.25 oz banana liqueur
.25 oz butterscotch schnapps
splash of cream
topped with whipped cream and caramel drizzle
One of the Pride-inspired martini’s is called the Rainbow Funfetti:
1.5 oz Cake Vodka
1 oz white creme de cacao
1 creamer
½ scoop of cake mix
Marshmallow dipped rim with rainbow sprinkles
Serve over ice in large rocks glass
Burk said that over the course of Pride Festival the store expects to see a lot of business, but that whatever the outcome is, he and the rest of the staff will know that they’ve contributed to the happiness in Short North.
You can stop by Le Chocoholique throughout the weekend and show your Pride support by grabbing one of the tasty cocktails being offered, as well as a variety of coffee drinks, and what the shop is known for: over a hundred different kinds of specialty truffles crafted daily.
“If the patrons of Pride would like something a little sweeter to make their weekend that much more enjoyable,” said Burk, “there isn’t a better place for a chocoholique to be this Saturday night.”
