Last September, Land-Grant Brewing, formerly known as Oval Brewing, announced that they would be setting up shop in a 20,000 square-feet space at 945 Burrell Avenue in Grandview Heights.
When that plan fell through, the hunt began for a space that would offer comparable advantages. That location has been found: 424 West Town Street, a 12,000 square-feet facility situated just adjacent to 400 West Rich, home of Strongwater Food & Spirits.
The new site will house an 8,000 square-feet production floor featuring a 20-barrel brewery room, and a 3,200 square feet taproom. Land-Grant’s owners, Adam Benner, Walt Keys, and Quintin Jessee, got conditional approval for the plan from the East Franklinton Review Board on February 17th, and hope to garner full approval on March 25th.
From there, the proposal goes to the City of Columbus for building and zoning permits. The guys at Land-Grant are already working with Mode Architects and Compton Construction for a mid or late summer opening.
“We’re excited at the prospect of starting our business in East Franklinton,” shares Benner. “There is a momentum and electricity surrounding the neighborhood, and we’re eager to be a part of that.”
Land-Grant Brewing will offer their original take on German Kölsch beers, IPAs, Pale Ales, and Brown Ales when they officially launch. Their taproom should serve all their signature brews, as well as other local beer and spirits.
