Kraft House No. 5 Opening in Powell

The Pappas family has been well known throughout Central Ohio for decades. They are the originators of Tommy’s Diner and Milo’s Cafe & Catering, two of the city’s best-loved eateries for their authenticity, both in food preparation and people.

Next weekend, the Pappas family will open yet another restaurant concept, Kraft House No. 5, which promises to craft almost everything in house, from pastas and breads, to vinegars and cured meat.

The restaurant will be located in Powell, at 5 South Liberty Street, where Easy Street Cafe, who closed their doors on May 11th, used to sit. It will be run by Michael Pappas, who runs Tommy’s Diner with his father, and Louie Pappas, who operates Milo’s.

The kitchen will be headed up by Marcus Meacham, who most recently was the head chef at Bodega and a competitor at the World Food Championships. His restless creativity and adventurous style will work perfectly at Kraft House, where originality is the name of the game.

Look for his menu to contain items like Pacu Fish Ribs, Shrimp & Grits, and a Braised Pork Belly Sandwich. And if you know anything about Meacham’s foodography, you can also expect burgers, mussels and fries, and lots of smoked foods.

Gourmet bar snacks, like candied nuts and bacon, and house-made chips will also be par for the course at Kraft House. Prices will range from $3-$30 per item. Meacham will also feature pop-up menus to keep the flavors inspired.

Crafting is also at the forefront with the drinks at Kraft House. A heavy focus on Ohio craft beers will be partnered with craft cocktails made from house-infused liquors, bitters, and mixers to make for an imbibing experience Powell has yet to see.

“Powell doesn’t even know how much they want this yet,” shares Meacham. “They are in for a great surprise.”

The restaurant will seat 100 guests after the extensive remodeling that’s to be done to the interior. Their hours of operation will be Monday-Friday, 11am -11pm, and Saturday-Sunday, 10am – midnight.

Kraft House No. 5 hopes to be open next weekend.
