It’s the second location in the neighborhood for Industrious which opened on the fourth floor of The Joseph at 629 N. High St. in September 2015. Building on the success of its initial office and its 100 percent occupancy, Industrious will add another 30,000 square feet of coworking space to the Short North.

“With this lease, Industrious will more than triple their footprint in Columbus and we couldn’t be more thrilled,” said Phil D. Rasey, vice president of development for the Pizzuti Companies. “Our partnership with Industrious enables us to creatively design and deliver a much-needed flexible office environment to the market.”

Industrious primarily offers private offices with shorter-term leases that can accommodate solopreneurs to small teams. Membership includes a number of amenities, from high-speed internet to a coffee bar and lounge stocked with local treats. The office will also feature open floor plans, floor-to-ceiling windows, and unique outdoor space exclusive to the coworking community.

Industrious says Columbus, and the neighborhood, have proven to be an attractive hub for businesses.

“The art, retail, and nightlife in the neighborhood has drawn companies, and we want to be there to help them grow,” said Katharine Lau, senior director of real estate at Industrious.

The Pizzuti Companies’ project will feature an additional 15,000 square feet of Class A office space and 12,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space. The development of a six-story, 100-unit multi-family project will follow.

Industrious’ Mercantile location is the 53rd for the coworking community with locations spanning coast-to-coast. The latest mixed-used development to feature large-scale coworking, Industrious joins another 63,000 square feet of coworking space headed for the neighborhood, including the recently-opened Serendipity Labs and the first Columbus location for global firm Spaces at 711 N. High St.

Industrious is aiming for a September 2019 opening.
