Hudson Street Hooligans Basement: Soccer Bar

It may not feel much like spring, but shin guards and short shorts are officially back in season. And when the Columbus Crew kicks off with a home opener Saturday, soccer fans will rally at Ruby Tuesday before, during and after the game.
The Hudson Street Hooligans Basement, located inside the bar, is the unofficial home of Crew supporters. It’s a natural choice, as Crew Stadium is a short walk, or stumble, from the bar. This marks the first season the mild-mannered Hooligans, one of the largest groups of Crew backers, will regularly meet at the bar, and anyone is welcome to join them.
Bar manager Scott Fotheringham said he always wanted Ruby Tuesday to be a place to come and watch the sport he loved. When he met up with the Hooligans at a Crew game, the vision came together. To maintain the character of the 30-plus-year-old drinkery, he chose to convert its spacious, unused basement into a soccer bar. The space is open during all Crew games, as well as for other MLS and international soccer matches (check HudsonStreetHooligans.net for the schedule).
