Back in June, Cameron Mitchell Restaurants (CMR) announced that they would be opening a new American Grill restaurant in The Lane, the retail/residential/office project located at 1600 Lane Avenue. That restaurant now has a name: Hudson 29 Kitchen & Drink, which is a nod to Mitchell’s past as he helps create a new future in his hometown of Upper Arlington.

The Hudson in the name refers to the Hudson Valley, home to the original Culinary Institute of America, and where Mitchell first began his culinary journey. The 29 pays tribute to Route 29 which runs through the many vineyards in Napa Valley. The combination of the two ideas speaks directly to the eatery’s point of view.

Hudson 29 will feature simple cuisine, artfully prepared to showcase the ingredients. Flatbreads straight from the pizza oven, farm-style salads using fresh and seasonal components, knife-and-fork sandwiches that will stick to all the right places, and aromatic rotisserie chickens are just some of what will grace the menu.

There will also be prime steaks available, which is much in keeping with many other CMR restaurants, and sushi, made-to-order. And because the spot is inspired in part by the lushness of Napa, Hudson 29 will carry over 200 different bottles of wine, including an exclusive selection served through a temperature-controlled Cruvinet system.

Hudson 29 will be open for lunch and dinner, and the average diner can expect to spend around $18 at lunch, $35 at dinner time. The almost 6,000-square foot space will seat roughly 170 guests, with another 30-40 seats planned for a terrace patio.

The projected opening date is set for early 2014. There’s already another Hudson 29 restaurant in the works to be opened in 2015 as part of The New Albany Company’s 30,000 square feet Market & Main development, another office/retail/restaurant project.

“Our company truly enjoys the creation of something new and the opportunity to introduce new concepts,” shares Mitchell. “This year marks our 20th in business, and are excited to unveil  Hudson 29 in our hometown in 2014.”

CMR currently operates 18 restaurants in Central Ohio, including M at Miranova, Molly Woo’s Asian Bistro, and Martini Modern Italian.
