HOMAGE Expanding to Cincinnati with Over-the-Rhine Store
Local retro apparel company HOMAGE is expanding their retail footprint once again at a rate of a new store every two years. Founder Ryan Vesler took the online business into a brick-and-mortar Short North shop in 2010, and then grew it into a larger Easton store in 2012. This Fall, HOMAGE will make a Cincinnati debut at 1232 Vine Street in the city’s Over-The-Rhine neighborhood.
“We’re excited to be in the Queen City!” said Vesler. “Cincinnati has a tremendous heritage and is the perfect place for the next HOMAGE store as we continue building a retail brand rooted in storytelling, authenticity, and fun.”
The new store is nearly 1,200 square feet and will offer the brand’s signature line of t-shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants and hats with a similar decorum: vintage sports memorabilia, an NBA Jam arcade machine and a sixties-era Coca Cola machine.
“Expansion has been on our radar and a goal of ours for some time — finding the ideal spot was a process,” HOMAGE president Jason Block. “We hope to continue growing, but we want to do so at a pace that allows us to deliver the same level of product, experience and service that our fans have come to expect.”
In addition to the Cincinnati expansion, HOMAGE is working on a warehouse consolidation project that would bring its online business and company offices into a centralized space near Port Columbus. HOMAGE was recently awarded a $146,000 tax credit toward the project, which would assist the company in adding 28 new jobs. A lease on the new warehouse is expected to be signed in the near future.
No date is set yet for the grand opening of the Cincinnati store, but Vesler expects doors to open sometime this fall.
“OTR is authentic, urban and full of energy,” adds Block. “The neighborhood has been talked about as an up-and-coming area for some time, and we hope to add to the excitement that already exists there.”
