    Christmas shopping has reached a crescendo everywhere in Columbus—except, it seems, at City Center. There, holiday songs play over loudspeakers to largely empty floors. A father and his toddler ride the escalators for fun. And store employees, unable to be interviewed because of company policies, generally lament what should be their biggest sales season of the year.

    A few owners and managers, however, did share their views of the holiday shopping season from within City Center.

    Cardboard Heroes, a sports memorabilia shop that derives close to 70 percent of its sales from Ohio State items, has locations all over Columbus, City Center manager Dean Lovelace said.
