Hoggy’s, a local barbecue legend, certainly can deliver the goods, just not all the time. The Sawmill Road location proved to be frustratingly inconsistent on three recent visits. Part of a new development just north of Hard Road, the store has a fresh, clean look, with lots a stone, a bright neon sign and caricatural images of its mascot.
At its best, Hoggy’s is hard to beat, in no small part to its signature barbecue sauce. Mustard-based, it’s slightly sweet and complex, with tantalizing elements of vinegar and garlic.
