Angie O’Brien and Heidi Bell have been floating higher in their handstands recently as they celebrated one year at their new Harbor Yoga location in Dublin.

“We have been open for 5 years – it is amazing!” said Bell between her classes last weekend.

Harbor Yoga gives students highly aerobic and powerful core workouts using a combination Rocket Yoga and Pilates in an intensely heated studio. The move last year to their location on Route 161 West of the Dublin Whole Foods not only gave them much better parking and more restrooms, but also a studio that could be heated easily to 95 degrees plus.

“We started with three instructors. Now we are 21,” says O’Brien. Practicing yoga over 10 years, both O’Brien and Bell are accomplished yoginis. Their Lululemon Ambassador posters at Polaris and Easton cause lots of comment. Lifelong athletes, they loved combining fun and funky music with the yoga poses, “It’s like ‘yoga-hop’ … traditional Eastern-style yoga with a more Western twist.”

In addition to their studio yoga classes, Heidi and Angie have done POGA events and outdoor classes at the Rockmill Brewery and Local Roots in Powell. They are also involved in various charities such as Pelotonia and a local youth hockey team where they teach yoga to the U15 and U18 teams in the Columbus Chill league.

“Some of the guys really do get into it,” said Bell.

Besides nourishing their students’ bodies, they invited the Kinetic Food Truck to Harbor Yoga on Wednesdays from 5 to 9 pm this summer. Kinetic serves healthy foods such as their Bang Bang salad with chicken, cucumber and siracha.
