Construction will be starting soon on the first phase of developer Brad Howe’s mixed-use project at the southwest corner of Summit Street and East Fifth Avenue.

Howe said that Burwell Court will be the first building started, with ground-breaking scheduled for June. That building, which will face Greenwood Avenue, will be three stories and feature eight one-bedroom townhomes, each with a one-car garage. Keller Williams will be listing the units, with prices beginning at $299,900.

A second, smaller building is scheduled for a mid-summer ground-breaking. The three-story Burwell Station building will feature four apartment units above 1,400 square feet of ground-floor retail space.

Still in the planning stages is the second phase of the project, a larger building called Burwell Heights. Plans call for five stories, with underground parking, retail on the first floor and four floors of apartments.

Howe, whose previous projects include the Jackson on High and the Burwell townhomes, first came to the Italian Village Commission with a general plan for the corner last fall. More detailed renderings of the larger building were presented to the commission in March.
