Grilled Cheese Mondays Return to Bodega
You asked for it. You got it. Bodega is bringing back Grilled Cheese Monday. The deal will be set up the same as it was prior to the Bodega revamp earlier this year, with grilled cheese sandwiches on sale for a mere dollar, and the ever-popular happy hour deal running for half-off all drafts and three dollar Watershed Gin & Vodka drinks from 4pm to 8pm.
“We had a handful of people asking about it all summer, and with students back at OSU, we’ve had even more people asking about it in the past few weeks,” said Bodega co-owner Collin Castore. “After awhile we just said ‘what the hell’ and decided to bring it back. We’re pretty excited because we miss the little guy ourselves.”
Castore explained that Grilled Cheese Monday was axed with the restaurant’s re-opening back in May due to the deal being too popular for its own good.
“It had gotten to the point where sometimes the wait for sandwiches was approaching two hours,” he stated. “People would back in here like sardines and no one would feel comfortable or have a good experience, and at the end of the day, if you’re going out to a restaurant, you want to have a good time.”
Castore says the logistics of serving large amounts of customers should no longer be an issue, as their ordering system has switched to a walk-up window rather than table service, which streamlines the process for his staff and his kitchen. He says that the new format has been well received, despite some initial criticism that the charm of the old restaurant had been lost.
“Some people were really attached to the old place, and that’s ok because different people will always find different things that they like,” added Castore. “But most people who have given us a try and taken the new place on its own terms end up having a good time.”
Grilled Cheese Monday officially returns on Monday, September 15th.
