GRID Furnishings Moving Out of The Short North

With the news that a new soda pop and candy shop is moving into 944 North High Street, also comes the news that GRID Furnishings is moving out of the same space. Owner Tim Friar confirmed that he has chosen not to renew his lease in the Short North and has plans to relocate the business into a new home in Old Worthington.

“I am in final negotiation on a new space but I have not signed the lease yet,” said Friar, who did not want to disclose the specific address until everything is finalized. “Old Worthington may not seem like an intuitive location for modern furniture, but it’s a great spot in terms of demographics, and we’ll be making it more of a destination.”

After originally opening in 2010, GRID Furnishings has become one of the city’s primary outlets for specific modern furniture brands including Blu Dot, Gus*Modern, Objeti, Areaware and others.

Friar says that the new location in Worthington will be larger, allowing him to expand brand offerings and create an opportunity to add more accessories and home decor into the mix.

Currently, GRID is hosting a wind-down sale so that the store has less product to move to the new location. A final closing date has not yet been announced.
