GoYoga Helping Children Cope With Trauma

“Parents should equip their child with the tools to help them fully embrace and move through their emotions, rather than pushing them away,” says Achea Redd, local mental health activist and mother of two.

Saturday, August 10, Redd will lead a workshop with GoYoga where attendees will walk away with the tools to help strengthen their child’s emotional health, rebuild their child’s self-esteem after an incident, and have open communication with kids about emotional well-being. Redd will provide tips for parents on how to make space to talk easily about emotional well-being with your kids.

Parents will learn how to help strengthen their child’s emotional health, rebuild their child’s self-esteem after a trauma, and have open communication with kids about emotional well-being. Redd’s workshop will provide many tips for parents on how to make space to talk easily about emotions with children.

Achea Redd is the founder of Real Girls F.A.R.T., author of Be Free. Be You, and was recently featured on the cover of Buckeye Lifestyle.

“Coming from my own experiences, I know that parents need a lot in their toolkits.”

Her workshop at GoYoga in New Albany, Advocating for Your Child’s Emotional Health Kids Yoga Session, will help children and their caregivers explore the calming, confidence-building, strengthening and self-esteem-boosting benefits of yoga. While the kids do yoga, Redd will be available to discuss potential risk factors like social media, how to spot the red flags and ways to overcome emotional threats.

“Any parent or grandparent, or whoever brings their child to yoga is welcome. I definitely want to do this before school starts, and I am thrilled that GoYoga is working with me because it is so very important to get the word out.”

GoYoga is Columbus’ largest group of yoga studios and the owners have been particularly passionate about children. GoYoga not only has teacher trainings for teaching kids yoga but also has childcare available at several of their locations. Advocating for Your Child’s Emotional Health Kids Yoga Session will be held at Go Yoga, 68 N High St., New Albany, on August 10, 2019, from 3 to 4 pm.  This is a donation-based workshop; donations will go to Achea Redd’s Real Girls Foundation to fund access to therapy for needy women and girls.
