The Ohio State University Public Relations Student Society of America chapter will be playing host to executive speakers from nationwide companies, Ohio businesses, and OSU alumni for the 2014 Regional PaRtners conference. The conference will be held at the Ohio Union on April 12, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“The purpose of this regional conference is to bring students in the area together to learn about trends and future forecasts in the PR industry,” said Aurora Stromberg, Ohio State PRSSA president.

The conference is designed to give like-minded, motivated PR students the opportunity to make lasting connections with industry executives and communicate with their peers. By encouraging students to become a part of PRSSA or to attend the conference, it is a great stepping stone for PR and communications related futures.

The conference theme is insPiRation: Looking Ahead to the Future of Public Relations. Speakers and professionals attending will be discussing the trends and future forecasts for the field of public relations.

Stromberg and the PRSSA board expect an attendance of around 150 people and 14 speakers. Along with OSU alumni, speakers at the conference include Columbus Underground’s very own Walker Evans, Ben Marrison, editor of The Columbus Dispatch, Victoria Trapp, Global Transitions Manager at NIKE, and Julie Russo-Exner, the Senior Vice President at Fahlgren Mortine.

“I just want students to have a great time,” said Stromberg. “At the end of the day, I will be happy if both the speakers and attendees are happy with the experience.”

Whether you are a student or not, the PRSSA board strongly encourages attendance. Stromberg notes that the conferences are not only recognized within PRSSA chapters, but within PRSA communities as well.

The board expects that most attendees will be juniors and seniors looking for internships, but that does not mean that others who want to chance to make connections should be discouraged from attending.

Tickets for PRSSA members is $30 and tickets for non-PRSSA members is $35. Breakfast and lunch will be provided by the board, as well as an after-conference cocktail session.
