GCAC Presents: Island of the Undead

Darkness falls across the island.  A chill runs down your spine.  You know you heard something and you thought you were alone.  You look behind you.  Nothing.  You turn the corner and see a glimpse of something.  Your instinct says to run the other way but you can’t help yourself.  You make your way down the path and go in for a closer look. Suddenly – it jumps out at you.  A zombie!!

Okay, okay.  So our new “Night of the Undead” for the Halloween season isn’t going to be nearly that dramatic but it’s always fun to get scared around Halloween, right?  For three Saturday nights in October, COSI is transforming our Adventure exhibition area into the “Island of the Undead” complete with a brand new zombie-themed puzzle to solve.  If you’ve ever been in Adventure at COSI you can appreciate the mysterious nature of the “island,” but imagine it being filled with zombies at every turn with an atmosphere that’s somewhere between a haunted house and a zombie escape exercise.  You’ll be tasked with finding the antidote to the zombie disease before it’s too late.  Plus, we set the “Island of the Undead” in 1954 so we can have some fun with a little ‘50s B-horror film ambiance.  This is a great chance to see a different side of the “island” and keep you in the Halloween spirit while having fun and learning a bit of problem solving.

We are also showing the “Undead Movie Series” in the National Geographic Giant Screen Theater with Shaun of the Dead (R) on October 17, Beetlejuice (PG) on October 24, and Dawn of the Dead (1978, NR) on October 31 to complete your Halloween experience.  You can try one experience or do both in the same evening. Plus we’ll have a cash bar available.

COSI’s “Night of the Undead” happens on October 17, 24, and 31 with the first “Island of the Undead” ticket time at 6:30pm each night and “Undead Movie Series” show times at 7:30pm and 10pm.  COSI is located at 333 W. Broad St., visit cosi.org/undead for more info.
