April’s Gallery Hop will be the first to be held virtually via Instagram during the coronavirus pandemic. On Saturday, April 4 at 4 p.m., viewers can tune in to the Short North Arts District’s Instagram page to check out Short North Arts District galleries, local retailers and Gallery Hop’s favorite performers.
Viewers will get to see the latest artworks and exhibitions, and even learn more about the artists featured. They will have the ability to purchase art and other items directly online. Local retailers will also feature new spring styles and product demos.
The virtual event will include performances from KaTanya Ingram, Scottie G, Terrance Charles, and other top Gallery Hop performers. Viewers can also catch the Stay Away From Each Other Get Together Car “Parade,” put on by the Short North Civic Association and Mz. Doo Dah, which will make its way through the Short North starting at 1 p.m.
“The need to experience art, embrace community, and support local businesses is crucial now more than ever,” said Betsy Pandora, executive director of the Short North Alliance. “A Virtual Gallery Hop will allow viewers to do just that, but safely from the comfort of their own homes.”
