Dublin will soon be gaining a new healthy fresh-casual concept.
Toronto-based Freshii will open in March at 6745 Avery-Muirfield Drive, in a former Caribou Coffee. The 1880-square-foot space will seat 40, though a majority of business is expected to be grab-and-go.
Freshii’s mission is to make healthy food both convenient and affordable. Their goal is to eliminate wasteful packaging, reduce energy consumption, and provide an alternative to heavily processed food.
The menu will feature salads, soups, wraps, juices, smoothies, frozen yogurt, rice and quinoa bowls, and burritos. A lot of nutrient-dense superfoods. A popular offering right now is the Freshii juice cleanse, ranging from one- to five-days cleanses. Most of their packaging is biodegradable, made from biodegradable vegetable starches. The average meal will cost around $8.
Kelly Queen and his wife, Amanda, are newly-minted franchise partners of the new Toronto-based restaurant. The couple looked at several other franchises before landing on Freshii. The restaurants health-focused “Mission Green” manifesto fit their active, on-the-go lifestyle. This is the couple’s first restaurant venture.
“People are starting to care more about the food they’re putting in their bodies,” said Queen. “We’re excited about doing something that reflects our current lifestyle instead of just a job.”
The chain celebrated their 10-year anniversary last week. Freshii has 200 stores, spread throughout 80 cities and 18 countries. 35 are open in their Toronto home base. They’ve been expanding their footprint aggressively, doubling their number of stores in the past year alone.
The duo hopes to open another Freshii later this year, possibly Downtown or in the University District. No plans have been finalized as of now.
Freshii will be open for lunch and dinner daily from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. Catering and delivery are projected to be available after four months of business.
