Franklin Park Featured in The Dispatch

This month’s installment of “Where We Live” in the Dispatch focuses on the Franklin Park neighborhood; a sub-neighborhood of Olde Towne East. As the name implies, the neighborhood surrounds Franklin Park, a 100-acre oasis in the heart of the Near East Side, and home of the Franklin Park Conservatory.

Similar to Goodale Park and Schiller Park, Franklin Park is surrounded with large historic homes, with a handful that would qualify as full-blown mansions. The neighborhood isn’t without challenges — many homes are in a state of disrepair and commercial businesses are somewhat scarce to serve the population, but proximity to other neighborhoods and solid housing stock keeps this area in high demand.
