Central Ohio could soon be home to 10 medical marijuana dispensaries. The Ohio Board of Pharmacy released its list of approved vendors on Monday, June 4, which includes five in Franklin County alone.

Out of nearly 400 applications sent to the Board, the most (69) came out of Franklin County.

The county’s five provisional licenses were awarded to:

  • Greenleaf Apothecaries, at 111 Vine St.
  • 127 OH, at 1361 Georgesville Rd.
  • Cannamed Therapeutics, at 656 Grandview Ave.
  • Verdant Creations, on Cassady Ave.
  • Harvest of Ohio, at 2950 N. High St.

In Central Ohio, Marion and Fairfield Counties were each awarded one license, and Licking County was awarded three.

That said, it’ll still be awhile before patients are able to actually purchase therapeutic marijuana, despite the state law’s September 8, 2018 deadline. Department of Commerce policy adviser Mark Hamlin told the Washington Post that marijuana would hit the shelves “as soon as possible,” though the 24 approved cultivators have yet to begin growing the plants, which take between three and four months to mature.

A total of 56 provisional dispensary licenses were awarded statewide, with Cuyahoga County also receiving five.
