No, wrong Big Mama. I’m referring to the homeless woman who was always outside of Skully’s and would sleep on the concrete couch. Her catch phrase was “hey baby.” I’d buy tootsie rolls to give her every time I walked by. :(

Someone posted on Facebook she froze to death the other night. Looking for confirmation.

Waaaaaaay into fAM. Works amazingly well for hangovers and I like to drink one before a workout because of all the electrolytes in it. Taste isn’t great, but, hey, think of it as medicine. A lot of people hate the taste of energy drinks but they serve a purpose so we drink them any how.

I tried the Formula 5am last week and was kind of disappointed. Silly me didn’t look at the full ingredients label first to notice it contains aspartame until after my first sip. Not a fan of artificial sweeteners. I can’t really say whether it’s a good cure or not since I couldn’t get past the taste to finish more than a small glass.

SO, if you haven’t tried Formula AM yet- get on it!! It is a locally made, oxygen-infused recovery drink that gets rid of a hangover like nothing else. I hear it is available at Betty’s and Tip Top now. Some of my runner buddies also really heart it because it helps to recover after long runs. Seriously a miracle product, and all local!!

Yep, Tensuke, Kihachi, Japanese Oriental Restaurant, and Ba Sho have ’em. Wouldn’t be surprised if there are quite a few more beyond that (Sushi Bistro Masa, Kikyo, Yoshi’s…)

Great, thanks for the list. A friend of mine is actually a server at Sushi Bistro Masa, so I’m going to text her about it RIGHT NOW. Ha. Where’s this Ba Sho? I’m not familiar. Would you highly recommend checking it out?

Where they’re hanging out in that mountain ski shack and dude is making up those noodles?
That was a great episode, I too wanna try!

Yup, that’s the one! I think he spends most (if not all) of the episode in Hokkaido.

Now *I* want cold soba. It’s catching!

It’s infectious, huh?! Nice tip with the tahini and rice wine vinegar for making it at home. I’ll certainly keep that in mind!

My Bourbon wishlist would include: A.H. Hirsch Reserve 16, Pappy Van Winkle’s Family Reserve 20, and George T. Stagg

That said, Booker’s and Woodford are always staples of mine.

Broad Ripple is a cool neighborhood. I’d say check that out for sure. The Children’s Museum is a lot of fun — even for adults. I caught the King Tut exhibit there last fall and had a really good time.

As for food, if you’re into German food at all and would like to dine in an interesting environment, I’d recommend The Rathskeller. The Jaegerschnitzel is awesomely savory.

Thanks for the feedback! I’ll be stopping by a few of the shops mentioned today.

Alright, I’m gonna get all American Psycho on y’all:

Excuse the poor quality of the camera phone photo. Black spot UV on heavy black silk stock, silver ink.

I had the dark lager last night. It’s got this wonderful malty, biscuityness I really enjoy. It’s almost reminiscent of a New Castle, really.

Somewhat unrelated, but I’ve been wanting to get a bulldog and name him Cannoli. I would love to be able to refer to a big fat bulldog as my Roly Poly Cannoli. :)

Good? No, not really. As much as I like Carfagna’s, their cannolis tend to be mushy, but that’s where I’d recommend in a pinch. The problem is that they’re prefilled with ricotta. They’re best when the shells are kept separate, and then filled with ricotta when served.

Corbo’s in Cleveland is my favorite, but I doubt that’d be convenient at all.

Hopefully someone else has a good alternative in Columbus. I’m interested myself.

That looks like a definite possibility.

That probably depends on you confidence in your riding. The two exits around there are Henderson and antrim park.
Henderson to knightsbridge to jasonway would be the quickest if you are OK riding with the yahoos on henderson.
antrim to olentangy river rd to the entrance just south of bethel would be a bit farther, but with less crazy fast traffic.

I’ve done Henderson to get to Akai Hana before. It was nothing short of terrifying and I hated every minute of it.

Awesome, this is one of the many reasons why they’re up there with Alana’s and Dragonfly for me.
