This seems like another case of the ‘realization that you can’t eat everything you want’.
The rumors are that Walmart has plans for Timken. I imagine this will speed that along.
A Walmart? uggh.
I think Rory hits it on the nail.
Interesting, from what I understand an Express is around 15,000 sq ft. which I think is about the size of the new downtown Hill’s Market. The Express is supposed to be a little bit upscale and push prepared foods.
I wonder if that announcement means they are keeping the Neil Ave store as is?
That is good concept and I think it will work well mixed in with more residential. It would be nice to see this Express version pop up in a few other neighborhoods.November 26, 2012 5:02 pm at 5:02 pm in reply to: Small Business Saturday 11/24 – $25 free for AmEx cardholders #520549
Also the timing with The Game.
Getting away from my boyfriend and his football buddies was why we went shopping :)November 26, 2012 4:09 pm at 4:09 pm in reply to: Small Business Saturday 11/24 – $25 free for AmEx cardholders #520547
We were in the SN on Saturday. I used my Amex card but didn’t think the sale offerings were any better or different than BF or what is offered in the general holiday season. I agree that having it so soon after BF seems like a bad idea.
When I am at the office I am not moving my car until I leave for the day. That makes the places within walking distance the places that get my business. On the way in it is convenience that dictates my coffee/breakfast urges. From what I understand those meters aren’t available during the morning commute?
I went. Having gone I am surprised by all the doom and gloom. It was a fun night. I spent about what I would on a night on the town in the cooler neighborhoods and I did not emerge a degenerate gambler (ymmv). I am not sure this would have been a blackhole in the Arena District.
I once made a road trip to the dog tracks in WV so maybe I am a more adventurous soul, but I see more entertainment options as a plus for Columbus.November 15, 2012 1:51 am at 1:51 am in reply to: Chipotle Coming in 2014 to The Fireproof in the Short North #520107
Not that exciting if you ask me. I wish there was a place for a few food trucks to camp out in the SN.November 15, 2012 12:48 am at 12:48 am in reply to: Black Friday: Where would you want a Food Truck while you are waiting in line? #518655
Seems like a win-win situation. Keep the crowds happy (and warm with hot drinks, if it’s a cold night) as they wait in long lines. Polaris is a nightmare. The Toys R Us line gets really long–snakes around the building. Try Sears, Target, JC Penney…any of those whose sales will draw big crowds (which, some are starting at 8 pm Thanksgiving night).
+1 It would definitely be worth the extra legwork to talk to some of those heavy hitters. The extra effort would really pay off for some of your awesome food trucks.
Nope, Trader Joes in the old GE on 5th! Well I can dream anyway.
I would love to see a block of mixed use apartments put there like the ones that Matt the Miller’s is in now. I think Rifes and the nearby Chamber’s Rd Kroger and the new 3rd Ave GE are enough. There sure will be a lot of grocery options in central Columbus. It is surprising how many seem to be popping up.
I would rather have a Trader Joe’s in that area.
+1 Trader Joe’s would be a great fit in the Victorian Village Neil Ave plaza.
I also have to wonder what they were thinking when they put up that huge awning.October 27, 2012 6:01 am at 6:01 am in reply to: Great City – New 80,000 Person Urban Development in China #517528
Will there be 80,000 people or is it “designed for 80,000 people”?
I’m sure this doesn’t apply to every place in China. But very interesting nonetheless.
Wow, that is eye opening.
