What about building garages with private developments underground like other cities? It doesn’t have to be a 6 story parking garage taking up thne entire block!
Native to Columbus I moved to Las Vegas for 2 years. This past week I made my way across country to D.C stopping in several large cities along the way and every time I mention Columbus as my home most people have to ask with a question “Ohio”? I love Columbus but this city really needs to step up their game to have the “Wow” factor for visitors want to come back and talk about Columbus as being an amazing city!January 30, 2016 6:48 pm at 6:48 pm in reply to: Two25 17 Story High Rise Proposed for SE Columbus Commons #1112834
Miranova was built 16 years ago at 28 stories high making it the tallest residential building in the state of Ohio. Going higher than what we have been seeing proposed is definitely doable we just need developers to step up to the plate. At the time Miranova was built the downtown population was not booming like it is now so I don’t see why developers are scared to go higher than 12 floors.
Would you seriously expect anything more exciting and bold for downtown Columbus? Without fixed light rail or a streetcar we will only continue to get stick frame 6 story buildings and parking garages.
Mixed use 9 story building with 2 story grocery planned for downtown/OTR.
Nice to see gas is going so cheap in Columbus. Out here in Las Vegas the cheapest is around $2.29.
If a large chain did move into the space I would like to see it be a Yard House! They have great food and a good happy hour.
Nice! Most of the Natural history museums are in large historic limestone structures…I wonder what type of design they will be going for?November 30, 2015 7:39 pm at 7:39 pm in reply to: 12-story, 170-room Hilton Garden Inn Proposed Downtown #1104932
Talking about how much retail there will be available on the first floor, I would love to see a Cb2 lease one of the open storefronts. With all the activity in downtown and the Short North I think it would be a great fit. West elm Would be nice as well but they already have a store at Easton.
I still think there is a need for a restaurant in the first or second phase. Something like the M over at Miranova.
Wow! Kroger and Giant Eagle are ready to duke it out! I guess it’s a preference but I prefer Kroger any day over Giant Eagle. It also sounds like some housing might be in the works for Kingsdale which would only add more vibrancy to the area.
Just to put my two cents in but if you have a problem with this building being 9,10,or even 11 stories in the middle of one of the largest cities in the country and one of the most urban neighborhoods in Columbus you have serious problems! This is not Williamsburg..STOP slowing down progress!
