I visited Downtown Cincinnati this past weekend, and was pleasantly surprised with the improvements they have made to the skyline, and the restaurants and retail over the past ten years. The Banks area near the stadiums was beautiful. The abundance of food and drinking options fit in perfectly with the carousel and parks area surrounding the river. I also noticed a new condo/ apartment project that was recently completed. The fist five to six floors was a parking garage which blended in with the buildings beautiful design. Columbus needs to take some pointers from Cincinnati. Their downtown felt bigger and more “big city” than Columbus’ downtown.
Very well said.. I am originally from Cincinnati. I really like Columbus, but its seems that Columbus always wants to do small projects. The city is happy with six floor buildings in the heart of downtown. Cincinnati has built a massive skyscraper and a light rail in the last ten years. The yare proposing a 20 to 30 story apartment building downtown. We get excited when someone builds a 12 story building. We should expect more if we want to be a major city.
I do not think this is an Ohio problem. Cincinnati and Dayton do not have the same liter problems along their highways. Hell, last time I visited Cleveland, thier highways seemed cleaner than ours. I undersatnd that ODOT cannot prevent every piece of trash from hugging medians and off ramps around this area, but it does seem like someone is not doing thier job in this area, or we have a problem with throwing away our trash.
Maybe this is a concern that can be brough to the Mayor’s attention and the ODOT manager for this area. On your way home tonight, look at the amount of garbage and trash along the highway. It seems that they have not cleaned along the medians since early speing. Every other city that I have been to lately appeared to be cleaner.
Does anyone have the timeline, or the exact phase that will be built next? This project is beautiful and an added addition to that area.
Just wanted everyone to know that I went to Gressos on High Street last night for VALLEY NIGHT. I just moved to Columbus from Dayton, but my wife is from the Valley. I loved the bar, and loved the food. Best pizza and fish for a true bar setting. If you want to go, they have Valley Night once a month. I believe that it is the last Wednesday of every month. You have to checkit out.
Best show on TV. Once you start watching, you cannot stop. Best character on the show is the Lanaster brother.. I think is name is the IMP.
Has anyone heard any additional information about the developer building the mixed use apartments / retail? That would add a lot to the area, as well as downtown.
A Transit Station would be great for downtown. The construction would be great for jobs, retail and the overall look of downtown. Has there been any information on this project? Downtown retail need parking as well as an environment that is appealing to customers.August 30, 2011 6:39 pm at 6:39 pm in reply to: The Joseph – Pizzuti Short North Hotel – News & Updates #390436
Has anyone been to a meeting, or have any information on the progress of this project. This could be a beautiful hotel for the city of Columbus.
Any news or pictures of the renovation. I would love to see this project finished.
